Buying a house in the area

If you are interested in buying a house abroad, it is difficult to decide where to live without visiting the area.
When we moved here from the UK, our main criteria was the weather, proximity to motorways and airports, accessibility to local amenities, and a region which was still relatively inexpensive. Unfortunately it is difficult nowadays to find all these criteria in an area of France, as property prices in the south of France are very high and much of the west of France is not easily accessible. However, knowing people in Burgundy, we managed to find a region of France which fulfilled all our wishes and has carried on doing so. We have lived in the Burgundian Bresse for 3 years and still to this day discover hidden villages and exciting attractions for both tourists and locals. We benefit from being 2 hours drive from ski resorts, 1 hour from the vineyards of Burgundy and within 30 minutes from the 2 main motorways which run north-south. You are within easy reach of Germany, Switzerland and Italy. On this website you will see some of our before and after photos. This area boasts many traditional 'Bressan' farmhouses which are timber and brick frame buildings, many of which require restoration. If restoration is not your thing, there are many newly built or restored houses and farms.
